[Like a real animal. It makes her heart ache thinking about it, imagining it, and leans back into him.]

How long did that go on for?

Like his little lab rat. Not sure how long... But it felt like forever.

[He hugs her close with a sigh. It was all too similar to his childhood.]

It felt like being back in dad's basement. To him I was some monster with claws, not his child.

[Now, Sally is neither soft-spoken nor a prude, but just generally keeps her opinions to herself, never much aggressive. But at that nugget of knowledge, she twists around to look at him without breaking their closeness, shock plain on her face.]

Was supposed to get lessons from someone here but she decided not to bother with my feral charm anymore. But I don't mind it that much anymore... [He nuzzles into her hair.]

[200 years. Sally can't help it, she stiffens slightly, but at least isn't pulling away.]

The healing factor and my mutation slow down aging. Most of us mutants live longer than normal, but we ferals even longer. Not always a good thing, if I'm honest... Outliving those we love.

[Her reaction isn't unexpected and he really doesn't blame her.]

Oh, so it's more like you're just...super long lived.

[Like, really incredibly long lived. It relaxes her a little, knowing that it's just a natural part of what she is, but given her reaction in general feels like she should clarify:]

I only asked because, erm, I've had some past trouble with immortals. Not that I'd think you'd cause me trouble or anything. It's just...it's still kind of a fear.

I understand. I have that with humans... Because of past trouble.
